Esta super luna de septiembre de 2024 me ha dado mucho juego, y es que he podido sacar tiempo para fotografiarla en varias ocasiones: desde su salida el día 16 (llena al 96,5%) hasta el eclipse de la noche del 17 (100%), pasando por la puesta de la mañana del día 17 (98,7%) y de nuevo la salida el día 17 (99,6%).
Debido a mi horario laboral me he tenido que ceñir a fotografiarla en lugares del entorno de mi lugar de trabajo y de residencia, de modo que las fotos son todas de Cirauqui, Estella, Villatuerta y Villamayor de Monjardín (Tierra Estella, Navarra).
Esta fue la salida de la luna el día 16 de septiembre (al 96,5%) sobre la Iglesia de San Román de Cirauqui:
Nada más hacer unas cuantas tomas en ese lugar me dirigí rápidamente a Estella, donde tenía la esperanza de llegar a tiempo para ensayar una imagen que llevaba tiempo rondando mi cabeza: la luna saliendo sobre el Convento de Santo Domingo. Ya sabía que la luna no saldría sobre el convento ese día, pero quería ver cómo podía quedar la foto el día que la alineación sea perfecta y el convento esté iluminado. Así quedó (me he permitido eliminar digitalmente dos cables telefónicos que atravesaban el Paseo de la Inmaculada de lado a lado, estropeando la imagen):
Tocaba irse a la cama tempranito para levantarse a las 5 de la mañana de nuevo para intentar ir a fotografiar la puesta de la luna sobre el Castillo de San Esteban de Deyo, en Villamayor de Monjardín, a unos 15 minutos de mi casa. La foto está tomada en plena noche aún, a las 6 de la mañana, lo cuál hace muy difícil el enfoque, aparte de que el cielo negro resta espectacularidad a la imagen (luna al 98,7%):
Y ya solo tocaba esperar, ahora sí, la salida de la super luna al atardecer del día 17 de septiembre: la idea era la misma que la tarde anterior, pero ya con la luna casi completamente iluminada, y de nuevo saliendo sobre la iglesia de Cirauqui, que además se encuentra precisamente celebrando sus fiestas estos días. Me acompañó una de mis hijas, que sacó algunas imágenes del «cómo se hizo». Aquí os dejo la imagen en sí (luna al 99,6%) y las que me tomó mi ayudante:
De camino de vuelta a casa aún tuve tiempo de intentar otra foto que había pensado alguna vez pero no había llegado a intentar aún: la luna saliendo sobre la Cruz de Maurien, entre Villatuerta y Lorca:
Y finalmente la guinda que nos ha ofrecido esta luna llena: ¡el eclipse! No creía que fuera a poder levantarme para fotografiarlo, pero reuní fuerzas y lo conseguí. La foto está tomada desde la terraza de casa, a mano alzada (sin trípode) y en pijama, pero eso que quede entre vosotros y yo… (luna al 100%):

The super moon this month has given me a lot of work!, as I’ve been able to photograph it several times: since it came out on September 16th (96,5% full) till the eclipse on the night of the 17th (100% full), including how it set on the morning of the 17th (98,7%), and again at its rise on the evening of the 17th (99,6%).
Due to my working schedule I could only do all the photographs around my work and home area, so all pics are taken in Cirauqui, Estella, Villatuerta and Villamayor de Monjardín (Tierra Estella, Navarra).
This was the rise of the moon on September 16th (96,5% full) over the church of San Roman in Cirauqui:
As soon as I took a few shots there I headed fast to Estella, where I had the hope of making it in time to practice for an image that had long been in my head: the moon rising over the Convento de Santo Domingo. I already knew that on this day the moon would not be aligned with the convent, but I still wanted to check how the image could look the day that the alignment may be perfect and the convent may be lit. This is how it turned out (I erased digitally some telephone cables that crossed from side to side of the street):
Time to go to bed early in order to wake up at 5am again to try to photograph the moon set over the Castle of San Esteban de Deyo, in Villamayor de Monjardín, some 15 minutes from my home. The photo is taken in pitch black night at 6am, which makes it difficult to focus correctly, plus the black sky doesn’t add a lot for a nice image (moon at 98,7%):
Now it was just time to wait for the rise of the super moon, on the evening of the 17th of september: the photo was the same as the evening before, the moon again rising over the church of Cirauqui, a village currently celebrating its «fiestas», but now with the moon completely full. One of my daughters came with me this time and took some photos of «the making of». This is the actual moon image (at 99,6%) and some of the ones taken by my assistant:
On the way back home I still had time to try another image I had imagined some times but had still never tried: the moon rising behind the Cruz de Maurien, between Villatuerta and Lorca:
And finally what made this super moon even more especial: the eclipse! I didn’t think I could wake up at the time needed to photograph it, but I did. The photo is taken from my home’s terrace, handheld (no tripod) and in my pyjamas, but shhhh, don’t tell anyone… (moon at 100%):
