Finalista en Certamen Internacional Fotográfico Semana de la Cigüeña

Hace unas semanas me comunicaron que una de las dos fotografías que presenté al «Certamen Internacional Fotográfico de la XXXV Semana de la Cigüeña de Malpartida de Cáceres» ha sido seleccionada como finalista entre las 145 imágenes presentadas. Ha sido una gran sorpresa ya que el nivel de calidad en este certamen es muy alto. Aunque lo conozco desde hace años, hacía más de veinte de mi última participación, y este año me animé con dos imágenes de una visita que hice precisamente a Malpartida de Cáceres a principios de 2024.
En un viaje familiar pasamos la noche de fin de año de 2023 en Cáceres. Desde hace ya varios años me gusta salir el día 1 de enero temprano para intentar hacer alguna foto especial en ese amanecer del primer día del año, y dado que este año me encontraba muy cerca de Malpartida, quise volver al Monumento Natural los Barruecos, que no había vuelto a visitar desde allá por el año 2001 ó 2002.
Las condiciones eran magníficas: el pronóstico prometía un día soleado, pero con brumas matinales. Llegué a Los Barruecos un buen rato antes del amanecer y comencé a pasear por la zona. No había nadie más allí.
Tras unas cuantas fotos del paisaje y algún detalle macro me centré en ese sol que iba a despuntar de forma inminente tras las rocas que se ven arriba a la izquierda en la imagen anterior, sobre las cuáles había dos cigüeñas… Y de entre esas imágenes salió la foto finalista en el certamen, que espero que os guste:

A few weeks ago I was notified that one of the two images I entered to the «Certamen Internacional Fotográfico de la XXXV Semana de la Cigüeña de Malpartida de Cáceres» had been selected as runner up among the 145 images entered in the contest. It’s a big deal because the level of this contest is quite high. Although I know it since years ago, I had not entered in the last twenty (at least), so this year I thought I’d give it a shot with two images taken during a visit to the actual village that organizes the contest, Malpartida de Cáceres, in early 2024.
During a family trip we spent new year’s eve in Cáceres (Extremadura, Spain). It’s already been a few years since I started waking up early on the morning of the 1st of January to try and get a nice image of that first dawn of the year, and since this year I was so close to Malpartida, I decided to go visit again the Monumento Natural los Barruecos, which I hadn’t visited since the year 2001 or 2002.
The forecast was amazing: a sunny day but with some morning mists. I got to Los Barruecos a good while before sunrise and started walking the area. There was nobody else there.
After a few landcape and macro details photos I focused on the sun that was about to come out behind the rocks on the top left area of the last image above, on top of which there were two white storks… Among the images I took then came out the runner up in the contest. I hope you like it:
